Aromatherapy & Pet Safety
If you share your home with pets, please take a moment to review the following guidance before diffusing essential oils.
- Consult your veterinarian first. Pets — particularly cats, birds, and small mammals — may be more sensitive to airborne compounds than humans. What is tolerable for people can be problematic for animals. A vet familiar with your pet's health history is the best source of guidance.
- Do not diffuse continuously in spaces where pets are present. Prolonged or concentrated exposure in enclosed areas is of particular concern. Ensure pets can always leave the room freely.
- Provide adequate ventilation. Diffuse in well-ventilated spaces and limit session length. Stop use immediately if your pet shows signs of discomfort such as watery eyes, lethargy, drooling, difficulty breathing, or unusual behavior.
- Keep oils out of reach. Undiluted essential oils should never be applied to pets or left where they can be ingested or walked through.
